Alvin Mansour’s Oram Hotels and Azul Hospitality Group opened the 162-room The Guild, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio property located in San Diego. Housed in the historic, century-old Army-Navy landmark building, the property has been restored and reimagined by Oram Hotels and designer Sormeh Rienne into a contemporary space.

Interiors are balanced with heritage details and nods to the building’s Army-Navy background and the Italian-Renaissance bones. The property’s exterior detailing and façade have been restored, and guests are greeted in the lobby by the original grand stone staircase. The lobby’s reception area features seating areas with plush, classic custom sofas and chairs in velvet tones of pink, deep red and blue alongside The Guild Bar, a focal point of the space with Brazilian leathered quartzite counter, backbar with custom millwork detailing and curated design and seating elements. To the right upon entry, the reception desk is a hand-carved, fluted burgundy wood structure that is tucked away amid floor to ceiling drapery. Rounding off the aesthetic is the lobby’s hand-torched herringbone floor.

The hotel also includes signature restaurant Luca, a Mediterranean-influenced, al fresco destination
serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to hotel guests and locals. The outlet is headed by executive chef Justin Vaiciunas.
