Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

The 250-room Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center is managed by Benchmark, a global hospitality company and operated as part of the Benchmark Resorts & Hotels brand.  It sits just 96 yards from Kyle Field, home of the Texas A&M football team, and steps from the university’s Memorial Student Center. Named for business owner and philanthropist James D. “Doug” Pitcock, Jr., the property, managed by Benchmark, pays homage to the college’s history and traditions.

Design and development for the eight-story, 252,500 sq. ft. property was led by architectural firm Huitt-Zollars, Inc., with construction by Houston-based Gilbane Development Company in a joint venture with Stonehenge Holdings, LLC, and features the university’s colors, maroon and white with accents of gray, that set the stage to highlight iconic events and landmarks. Artwork nods to the university’s traditions, with large Aggie-themed collages hanging above guestroom beds. (Aggie refers to students of the university.) Showers display engraved plaques that say, “Gig ‘Em Aggies!” The phrase comes from a closed-fist and thumb-up tradition that started in 1930.

The hotel includes a 35,000 sq. ft. conference center with an 8,300 sq. ft. ballroom and 22 meeting rooms. There are three F&B outlets including Brazos – Proper Texas Kitchen; the two-story Block T Bar that overlooks Kyle Field; and grab-and-go eatery The Junction Market and Café. On the hotel’s rooftop is a pool with cabanas.

Over half of the hotel’s team members are current or former students of A&M.
