Gold Key – Lobby Luxury
The Highlights: Every aspect of the resort’s setting is echoed in the lobby’s design, which was refreshed as part of a multimillion-dollar renovation of the renowned, formerly independent 358-key Bacara Resort now flagged as a Ritz-Carlton. Nature-inspired accents, the brand’s signature oceanic blue tones, opalescent surfaces, and woven textures pay tribute to the area’s original residents. Old World elements combined with a relaxed, Spanish Mission vibe echo the Mediterranean styling of buildings throughout Santa Barbara. Handcarved Italian stone reception desks are a tangible link to another continent and the forms of the surrounding landscape, while organic influences form a direct connection with the coastal landscape.
“Our goal was for the property to look toward the future without forgetting the inspiration of the past and to infuse glamour and luxury into the design, creating an oasis on the Santa Barbara coast,” says Kathleen Dauber, partner at HBA.
