Gold Key – Nightclub/Lounge
The Highlights: Bizarre meets beautiful in this historic basement space at the Wayfarer Downtown LA. From her prominent portrait, the lounge’s namesake overlooks a dim, vibey interior with drapery and chandeliers galore. Exposed ceilings, heavy columns, gold accents, and lush retro seating are accompanied by unexpected touches that add to the space’s sense of whimsical intrigue: a garden gnome that hoists a side table aloft, lounge seating sourced from a vintage carnival ride, a bar lined with an eclectic mix of reclaimed panels, and even a card catalog.
