Southwest Value Partners, the owner and developer of the Nashville Yards development, entered into an agreement to purchase the historic Union Station Hotel, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, in Nashville. Plans are in the works to improve the property while preserving its historic character, according to Sam Friedman, CEO of development company Dimension Development.

Built in 1900, Union Station originally served as the city’s central train terminal for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. The terminal closed in 1979, and the building was reopened as a hotel in 1986. The 125-room hotel became a member of the Historic Hotels of America in 2015 and underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2016.

Nashville Yards is a 17-acre development located in downtown Nashville. Gresham Smith is providing architecture, interior design, structural engineering, and master planning services for the development. When complete, the project will be a walkable, urban community featuring high-end hospitality offerings, including a luxury Grand Hyatt hotel, retail and restaurant options, a 4-acre entertainment district and concert venue spearheaded by AEG Worldwide and MGM, and Class-A+ office space anchoring Amazon’s future Operations Center of Excellence. The development will include open plazas and green spaces, including a 1.3-acre urban park that will span the west side of the project from Broadway to Church Street.
