Following an extensive multimillion-dollar renovation, Le Germain Hotel Montréal is unveiling a unique permanent facade as part of a city-wide project collaboration with Mural, North America’s largest urban art festival.
Dazzle My Heart by Canadian artist Michelle Hoogveld is featured on the building’s front façade. To revitalize the city’s various neighborhoods, this artistic initiative is part of the 2021 Mural Arts Program presented by the City of Montréal. Towering at over 171 feet, the artist had to work on a platform suspended from the roof of the hotel to apply the 80 different colors.
Opened in 1999, the hotel on Mansfield Street used to be the former headquarters of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, constructed in 1967. It is this landmark birth year that inspired the architectural firm LEMAYMICHAUD in its $30-million transformation of the premises. Featuring curved lines and molded plastic juxtaposed with softer accents of wood, the hotel invites guests to discover a design that is inspired by the sixties, yet with a decidedly modern flair.
