HBA Los Angeles has completed the design of the Watermark at Westwood Village, Los Angeles’ newest luxury senior living community with lifestyle experiences that foster human connection and an affiliation with nature in the modern-built environment. With three levels of accommodations—independent living, assisted living and memory care—engaged communal spaces and an extensive amenity collection, the Watermark at Westwood Village is a community designed for aging in place that is functional, home-like, and vibrant.
Each space is crafted with intention to encourage connectivity and promote the mental and physical well-being of its members. The ground floor public areas are spacious and open, seamlessly integrated through a cohesive vernacular and materiality. Zones are defined by architectural elements that feel purposeful in providing various levels of privacy. A rising, double-sided fireplace in the lobby serves as a focal point and distinguishes the space from the multifunctional areas beyond while an adjacent decorative screening element maintains visual continuity. In the lounge and restaurant, a semi-open, sculptural brass shelving element anchors the center of the space and mindfully separates two related functions without visual obstruction. Monolithic travertine structural walls are carried from the lobby into the dining area to further an intuitive flow.
