Montage Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to manage and operate a newbuild resort in California’s wine country. Designed by GlazierLe, Delawie Architects and EDG, project participants say the Sonoma County resort will emphasize environmentally sensitive design, as well as a color palette complementary to the local surroundings, highlighting dark woods and earth tones.
Owned by Ohana Real Estate Investors and developed by The Robert Green Co., the Montage Healdsburg will begin construction this spring and is slated to open two years after that. As the first Montage location in northern California, the 258-acre resort will feature 130 bungalow-style accommodations, along with a Spa Montage and an infinity pool. A collection of Montage Residences is planned for a future phase.
“Montage Healdsburg will feature breathtaking views of vineyards and oak woodlands, and will provide guests with signature Montage amenities,” says Alan Fuerstman, founder, chairman and ceo, Montage Intl. “It is destined to become a wine country landmark, and we look forward to becoming a member of the Sonoma County community.”
Alex Hill, executive vice president of development at Ohana, adds: “Montage Healdsburg will feature high-end, contemporary design that respects and highlights the unique qualities of the surrounding environment, featuring views of rolling hills, vineyards and heritage oak trees. With natural materials and a color palette inspired by the site, the resort will offer timeless design and a true sense of place.”
Montage currently operates properties in Laguna Beach and Beverly Hills, California; Deer Valley, Utah; Kapalua Bay, Hawaii; and Bluffton, South Carolina, with locales opening in May in Los Cabos, Mexico, and in late 2019 in La Quinta, California.
