As the Chinese hotel industry looks to recovery, Marriott International has reopened all of its 350 properties in the country, according to various media reports.
Occupancy for the company’s hotel in China now stands at 40 percent. In January when the country was at the height of its COVID-19 crisis, CEO Arne Sorenson had said that occupancy for Marriott’s Chinese hotels hit about 7 percent. Meanwhile Sorenson said that its U.S. hotels are also recovering, but occupancy is at about 20 percent for those properties.
Meanwhile, Hilton opened all of its 225 hotels in China about two weeks ago.
