Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

The recently opened 158-room, five-story Hotel Indigo Mount Pleasant, managed by Atlanta-based NorthPointe Hospitality, is the flag’s first in South Carolina and marries the Indigo name with the region’s history in its design.

The indigo plant, which generates a blue dye, was once an important element of the state’s economy. The hotel’s interiors make use of the color throughout public spaces, meeting rooms and guestrooms via walls, carpeting, furniture, fixtures and columns. The property’s on-site food and beverage outlet, Eliza’s bar + kitchen, derives its name from Eliza Lucas Pinckney who is credited for making indigo one of South Carolina’s most important cash crops in the 1700s.

The boutique hotel, which was converted from a Holiday Inn built in 1988, provides outdoor lifestyle spaces such as a resort-style pool, a bar and cabanas. A fitness center and yoga room are available for wellness-minded travelers. Rounding out the development is 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, including a 3,000 sq. ft. ballroom that can hold up to 250 people and be divvied into separate meeting rooms.
