Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

Hotel Colee, located in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood and part of the Autograph Collection, has officially opened. Interior designer Andrew Alford of Andrew Alford Creative was tapped to design the hotel, which is the first property in the Practice Hospitality portfolio.

Alford was inspired by the hotel’s mission to be an inclusive and confidence-boosting accomplice in inspiring good times. Approaching the lobby as a stage for personal style, he implemented design that complements any outfit. The idea was to create a space rich with patterns ringed by quiet pastels, providing a variety of spots for guests to perch for a photo or sit back and take it all in. The perimeter of the lobby is solid lavender – from ceilings to window and wallcoverings to velvet banquettes – while the middle is studded with exuberantly colored furniture and details that evoke the statement pieces that elevate any outfit — party or place — to iconic and swagger-worthy.

The lobby’s signature feature is being installed this spring and will pay homage to a cornerstone of southern culture and community: the barber shops and beauty parlors where people gather to look and feel their best. The design will evoke these spaces with vintage barber chairs reupholstered and reimagined in butterfly patterns set in front of custom lavender millwork that converts into mirrored shelving. Much more than just a social media moment, this space is intended to honor the role barber shops and beauty parlors serve as community centers.
