Kleindienst Group has announced plans for The Floating Venice, an underwater luxury vessel resort off the coast of Dubai. Work on the $680 million project, which will include accommodations for up to 3,000 guests, is slated to begin early next year and be completed by the end of 2020.

The floating resort, to be located about 2.5 miles offshore in the Arabian Sea, will have 414 cabins spread out over four decks, one of which will be underwater. Guest will travel through the complex’s canals via gondola or by walkways and bridges.

The resort will include 24 pools (some with clear acrylic bases), 12 restaurants and bars, and 12 floating beaches. In addition, more than 400,000 sq. ft. of coral will be planted around the complex from an on-site nursery.

“Our aim is to enhance the landscape of real estate and hospitality and deliver a new iconic experience,” says Kleindienst Group chairman Josef Kleindienst. “The Floating Venice is the epitome of this innovation and spirit, the world’s first luxury underwater vessel resort.”

The Floating Venice will be part of Kleindienst’s The Heart of Europe development, a cluster of six islands that’s slated to become home to themed destinations based on countries throughout the continent.
