John Portman & Associates has a new leadership team, a step toward the firm’s succession plan by founder John C. Portman Jr., who recognized six years ago that he would need top talent to help transition him from the office he first created in 1953.
With the passing of Grace Tan, the office transitions to the next level:
Rob Halverson has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer, responsible for the office coordination and management in collaboration with John Nipaver, Greg Botsch and Hong Wan, USA Director of Operations China, who will primarily focus on projects in Asia.
The collaborative design process promoted by the firm is led by Gordon Beckman, Pierluca Maffey, Walter Miller, Walt Jackson and Lell Barnes. The technical quality of each project is overseen by Greg Botsch, John Nipaver and Norris Hunt.
