Cambodia to Add Nikko
Hotel Nikko Phnom Penh planned for the Japan Trade Center
Tokyo-based operator Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co. Ltd. is expanding to Cambodia with plans to open Hotel Nikko Phnom Penh in the capital city by 2022.
The hotel, to be located in the Japan Trade Center (tentative name) in the Toul Tum Poung district, will be constructed with a steel-frame structure not widely adopted yet in the country. Japanese construction engineers are currently leading and training teams on site to use this building material. This project is expected to introduce new construction technology into Cambodia. The hotel will comprise 201 guestrooms on floors 14 through 22 of the new building. The development will also include multiple restaurants and a skydeck bar on the 23rd floor.
Hotel Nikko Phnom Penh will be the first property Hotel Okura Co. Ltd.'s Okura Nikko Hotels unit has opened in Cambodia, and is part of a plan to expand the group’s global portfolio to 100 properties, primarily in Asia, by 2020. UY United Co. Ltd. will manage the hotel following an investment in that company by URATA Co. Ltd.
