Hilton Garden Inn Unveils Global Prototypes

Hilton Garden Inn plans to launch six new design prototypes, one for each global region where the upscale brand operates. The flag’s in-house team worked with Warwick, Rhode Island-based DiStudio (a unit of interior architectural firm DiLeonardo) and Cincinnati-headquartered FRCH Design Worldwide to develop its prototype for North America, while the others were created by designers in their respective regions.

“Hilton Garden Inn is rapidly expanding globally, and that requires a new approach to our hotel prototypes that addresses the localized needs and customs of each market,” says John Greenleaf, global head, Hilton Garden Inn. “We are confident it will now be easier and more profitable than ever to build our hotels—no matter where you are in the world.”

The brand has unveiled details for its North American prototype, dubbed Magnolia, whose features include a modular, pod-style check-in area; reconfigured public spaces with a bar-centric focus and modified F&B offerings; revamped, multi-functional meeting spaces; and accommodations with a nature-inspired design and larger bathrooms. The new design also calls for more natural light throughout the property and gives owners the option of adding a swimming pool.

According to the flag, benefits of the new Magnolia prototype include reducing the property’s footprint by 8 percent to make acquiring building sites easier; providing an estimated 6 percent reduction in construction costs; and yielding a stronger return on investment.

Five other region-specific prototypes have also been developed based on insights and feedback from hotel developers, owners, guests and Hilton team members. All named after flowers, the new designs include: Sunflower (Europe), Iris (Middle East), Jasmine (Africa), Lotus (Asia Pacific) and Orchid (Latin America).

Hilton officials say the introduction of the regional prototypes is the first phase of a large-scale initiative to ramp up the brand. Additional components of that effort are expected to be unveiled in coming months.
