Custom looks are in high demand in hotel bathroom design, and we’re not just talking about those at boutique locales. This new wave of bath products is designed to speak to each hotel’s—or hotel brand’s—unique vibe.

Barry Smith, ceo of Project Stone by Belstone, says that “designers, architects and hotel brands are looking for a new, contemporary look that will not simply differentiate one hotel from another, but also between flags within the same brand.” And bath product designers have heard them loud and clear.

For example, custom fixture firm Watermark ID is now producing coordinating bath pieces like toilet brushes and tank levers, and eliminating obsolete design details in its other products. This includes cutting out faucet bases and replacing screws in fixtures, trim plates and shower drains with magnets. “If there’s no longer a use for it, it shouldn’t be there,” says Watermark ID president Avi Abel.

On the bath furniture front, Xylem Group is turning to new materials to give designers rich options that incorporate a euro-contemporary look by mixing materials like stone, glass and metal. Xylem president and founder Hal Weinstein says that one of the company’s next steps is to bring depth to sinks and shower bases with slate from Africa and Brazil.

With these intricate innovations happening in the bath product realm, designers should have no problem redefining boutique and luxury guest bathroom. Craving more inspiration? Check out the latest bath and spa products.
