Anderson redesigns building in NY’s Meatpacking District

Restoration Hardware (RH) is moving forward with plans to debut its first hotel in New York’s Meatpacking District. The city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved the redevelopment of the 130-year-old building on Gansevoort St. as a 14-key, RH-branded boutique guesthouse, Crain’s New York Business reports. Plans for the project were first unveiled in 2015.

Tribeca-based Anderson Architects recently submitted revised plans after receiving concerns from the commission about the proposed rooftop windscreen that would have been visible to street pedestrians, the business newspaper reports. The amended plans call for dropping the height of the rooftop by several feet and extending a fiberglass cornice around the top of the 25,000-sq.-ft. building to partially obscure the windscreen, as well as mimic the original building’s details, according to the news source.

The renovated site’s exterior will also feature a wire glass awning and granite sidewalks, while its interiors will showcase the brand’s furniture and fixtures, Crain’s reports.
