DiamondRock Hospitality Co. hired Dustin Resnick as vice president, acquisitions and investment. Resnick was previously senior director of acquisitions and development at Hersha Hospitality Trust.
Miraval Group, an operator of luxury resort, spa and well-being destinations, has hired Elizabeth Blair as ceo and Andrea Persily as cfo. Blair most recently served as ceo of 24 Hour Fitness, while Persily was previously coo and cfo for SpaFinder. In addition, Miraval said it has made an investment in ESPA, a provider of luxury spa and wellness products. (The amount of the investment was not disclosed.)
Charles “Chuck” Marshall, founder and chairman emeritus of Marshall Hotels & Resorts, died unexpectedly late last month at age 74 following stroke-related complications. Marshall founded the business in 1980, beginning as a developer/syndicator with three hotels. In the late 1980s, he shifted the company’s focus to full-time third-party management.
Hyatt Hotels Corp. opened the 125-key Hyatt Place Marathon/Florida Keys. The company also opened a Hyatt Ziva resort at the site of the former Dreams Puerto Vallarta in Mexico following a $20 million expansion, renovation and repositioning.
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group opened the Radisson Blu Kashgar in China's Xinjiang region. The 261-key locale houses a gym, indoor pool, meeting and event space and four F&B options.
Marriott Intl.’s Autograph Collection debuted in the Republic of Azerbaijan with the addition of two hotels in the Shahdag Mountain Resort: The 167-key Pik Palace Shahdag, which was designed by ReardonSmith Architects, and the 164-key Park Chalet Shahdag.
In other Marriott-related news:
*The Atlanta Marriott Northwest at Galleria hotel completed a $16 million renovation project that included updates to the Greatroom lobby, The Marketplace, guest rooms and the addition of a Rocks restaurant.
* The four-floor Courtyard Paramus in New Jersey began renovations to its public spaces. The transformation will include updates to the lobby, entrance, front desk, The Bistro, business center and fitness center and is slated for completion on March 1.
Hilton Worldwide opened the 427-key DoubleTree by Hilton Heyuan in China’s Guangdong province. The company also rebranded the 115-key URH Hotel Girona in Spain under the DoubleTree flag.
