Brand to update, operate New Esplanade Hotel

The Louis T Collection is heading to Australia, with the signing of a deal with H&M Capital Pty Ltd to oversee operations and renovations at the New Esplanade Hotel. Located in Elizabeth Quay—a new mixed-use development in Perth—the 80-key hotel will be repositioned with the goal of returning the property to its standing as a top-tier hotel, project participants say. (The original Esplanade Hotel opened on the site in the early 1900s and was demolished in the 1970s. Details on when the New Esplanade was built were not immediately available.)

“Given the changing face of the city with the new waterfront development surrounding the hotel, coupled with extremely favorable tourism numbers, the time couldn’t be better to bring the New Esplanade back to its former glory,” says Louis T Collection ceo and co-founder Grant Healy, who was born and raised in the Western Australian city. “Our goal for the hotel is that it becomes Perth’s most desirable home for visitors, and, at the same time, becomes an important social and entertainment hub for the local community.”

Healy says further details on the hotel’s renovation and relaunch will be unveiled over the next few months.

“With the refurbishment, we want to resurrect and retain the soul of the original Esplanade Hotel while introducing a fresh, innovative living experience, allowing the Esplanade Hotel to serve as one of the catalysts for the revitalization of the city of Perth,” says Jun Hao Tan, director of H&M Capital Pty Ltd.

Part of the Getz Group of Cos., Singapore-based Louis T’s current portfolio includes seven hotels: Three in Sri Lanka, two in Thailand and one apiece in Cambodia and Paris.
