Fashion designer teams with Brandmark on new flag
High-profile designer Karl Lagerfeld’s namesake fashion house is expanding into the hotel and restaurant sector. The company has unveiled plans for a new international brand, KARL LAGERFELD Hospitality, after entering into a long-term license agreement with fledgling hospitality licensing platform Brandmark Collective BV.

“Expanding our brand into the hospitality sector reflects our greater vision to broaden KARL LAGERFELD’s comprehensive lifestyle experience,” says KARL LAGERFELD ceo and president Pier Paolo Righi. “Developing the KARL LAGERFELD six-star hotel in Macau, which is scheduled to open in 2017, has been an exciting process for our whole team, and we look forward to further expanding in this field.”
The new flag will translate the German fashion designer’s vision into projects including hotels, residential properties, restaurants and private clubs, according to KARL LAGERFELD. The company says its hospitality unit is currently exploring opportunities in gateway markets and resort destinations internationally.
“We inherently understand the unique needs of hospitality owners and developers and will collectively deliver the KARL LAGERFELD brand offering in a way that celebrates the designer’s unique talent and approach to fashion and lifestyle,” says Tony Kurz, ceo of Brandmark Collective, which launched last year.
Based in Paris, Lagerfeld is a fashion designer, artist and photographer whose current roles include head designer and creative director of the Chanel and Fendi fashion houses, in addition to his eponymous label.
