Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) has named Andrew Moore president, and also tasked him with leading the design firm’s new restaurant design division. The latter unit, dubbed SOCIAL f+b, will specialize in creating what HBA describes as “social sensory” venues.

Moore was formerly the firm’s president for the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to his move, the firm promoted Meghann Day and Chris Godfrey to partners. Day is based at the firm’s San Francisco office, where she will lead the new Waldorf Astoria San Francisco hotel project that’s slated to open in 2020 or 2021. Godfrey is at HBA Residential, which opened its second outpost last year in London.

In addition, three of the firm’s employees have advanced to principal: Normal Agleron of HBA’s office in Manila, Philippines; Cristian Pinedo of HBA Miami; and Richard Kuei, who will lead Shanghai-based HBA Architecture.

“As HBA further evolves and expands to meet the needs of our clients, we are pleased to announce the promotions of our finest talents across the board—those designers who drive our work to excellence and ensure we will remain the world’s leader in hospitality design and beyond,” says HBA co-ceo Ian Carr. “To stay ahead of the curve and service our clients during all phases of their projects, we have also chosen to expand our offerings, building on HBA’s 51 years of design experience and fine-tuning our expertise.” (The firm’s other ceo, René Gross Kærskov, was the cover subject of Boutique Design’s September 2015 edition.)

This year the firm is working on the Shangri-La Dubai, the Hilton Hanoi Opera House, the Four Seasons Hotel Kingdom Towers in Jeddah, the Dream Hotel Palm Springs, The Ritz-Carlton Tunis, the Waldorf Astoria Doha and the Hotel Indigo Los Angeles.

In 2016, HBA wrapped up several other hotel projects, including the Four Seasons Kyoto; the Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C.; the Eagle Island Lodge in Botswana; Hotel Atlantis by Giardino; and the Shangri-La at the Fort in Manila.
