Thanks for helping us make 2015 one for the books.

2015 was a total wow for Boutique Design. Our issues were bigger and better than ever. Our trade fairs, already the fastest growing events of their kind in the U.S., set new records for exhibit space and attendance. Our art director, Boutique Design art director Kelly Farrar won first place in the 2015 Folio: Ozzie Awards competition for outstanding magazine design for her layout of a Q+A with designer Thomas Schoos that appeared in the March 2015 issue. Farrar took top honors in the Business-to-Business Feature Design: Under 100,000 circulation category. In addition, Boutique Design received an honorable mention in Folio:’s Eddie Awards for editorial excellence, for its July 2014 “Heroes and Mavericks” issue. BD’s entry was in the Business-to-Business: Full Issue for Design/Advertising/Marketing publications. Tennis star Venus Williams shone as the keynoter for Boutique Design New York. The 2015 Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design broke all previous entry records, with 365 submissions representing the best work in the business. We launched our Up-and-Coming Hotelier award by honoring our first-ever winners at BDwest: Enrique (Kike) Sarasola, president and founder, Room Mate Hotels; Brad Wilson, president, Ace Hotels; and Josh Wyatt, chief strategic officer, Generator. We also introduced our newest class of Boutique 18 winners--the designers who will be the names to watch from now on.
There were also a lot of personal bests and pinch-me moments for our editorial team: editor Matt Hall; assistant editor Christina Green; art director Kelly Farrar; production coordinator Linda Volz and contributing editor, Oriana Lerner; as well as our sales team led by Michelle Finn, vp and publisher; along with Melani Beattie, associate publisher; and business development manager for the Midwest and West; Michael Schneider, business development manager for the Northeast and Scott Rickles, business development manager for the Southeast. That carried over to the event side for Phil Robinson, vp and group show director of HMG and Keisha Byrd, HMG’s conference and events manager and Cassie Maurer, exhibitor marketing manager for HMG. And it became an integral part of the vision of our corporate team led by ST Media Group ceo Tedd Swormstedt.
Looking toward 2016, can we top that? With your input, blue-sky projects and products and a world full of new design work, absolutely!
For now, put all but the fun stuff of being in this fabulous industry aside. Go celebrate whatever your holidays are. Best wishes for a spectacular 2016.
