Winners to be revealed at investment conference
The Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) has unveiled the finalists for its annual ALIS Awards. Honorees consist of executives and companies responsible for the most influential hotel industry developments and deals in 2015, according to ALIS.
Winners will be announced on Jan. 26th during the ALIS conference, which will be held Jan. 25-27 at the JW Marriott and Microsoft Theater at L.A. LIVE.
The finalists are:
Development (Full Service) of the Year 2015
(This category includes branded and unbranded luxury and upper upscale chains, and casinos.)
*1 Hotel South Beach, Miami
A 426-key property developed by Starwood Capital Group's Barry Sternlicht and LeFrak's Richard LeFrak and managed by SH Group. With interiors created by Meyer Davis Studio, this project was also honored in several categories at the 2015 Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, including winning the Best Lobby Luxury category.
*JW Marriott Downtown Austin
A 1,012-key hotel developed and managed/owned by White Lodging Services Corp.
A 400-key hotel developed by Convexity Properties, a DRW Company, and managed/owned by Loews Hotels & Resorts.
*Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, Florida
A 349-key resort developed by Lon Tabatchnick and managed by Coral Hospitality.

*Aloft South Beach, Miami
A 235-key hotel developed by JMH Development and Madden Real Estate Ventures and managed by Highgate Hotels.
*Hampton Inn Chicago Motor Club
A 143-key locale developed by Murphy Asset Management and managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts.
*Residence Inn Chicago Downtown/Loop
A 381-key property developed by The Prime Group and managed by Marriott Intl.
Single Asset Transaction of the Year 2015
*Montage Laguna Beach, California
Strategic Hotels & Resorts acquired the 250-key property from Ohana Real Estate Investors for $360 million.
*New York Palace Hotel
LOTTE Group acquired the 909-key hotel from Northwood Investors for $805 million.
*Waldorf Astoria New York
Anbang Insurance Group Co. Ltd. acquired the iconic property from Hilton Worldwide and Blackstone for $1.95 billion.
Merger & Acquisition of the Year 2015
*Affiliates of Blackstone Real Estate Partners VIII LP and Strategic Hotels & Resorts
Affiliates of Blackstone Real Estate Partners acquired Strategic Hotels for about $6 billion.
*Expedia Inc. and HomeAway Inc.
Expedia acquired HomeAway, including all its brands, for $3.9 billion.
*InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants
IHG acquired Kimpton for $430 million.

The two-and-a-half-day ALIS event is co-hosted by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and Burba Hotel Network (BHN).
